W4ZE Amateur Radio Station

First licensed in 1960 as KN4NTA, I received the call of K4NTA the following year.  My QTH until 1994 was Stuart, FL when I moved to Mc Murray, PA near Pittsburgh.  In early 2000 I moved to Waxhaw, NC near Charlotte.  Then in April 2001 back to the Pittsburgh area.   In 2000 I changed my call to W4ZE.

During the early 1980’s I was active promoting packet radio and the Florida Amateur Digital Communication Association (FADCA) in Florida Working with W1BEL, N2WX and many others, we introduced packet radio to Florida The software for the TAPR TNC 2 was written by Howie N2WXTAPR did not have a prototype to test the software on, so we used a highly modified Xerox 820 computer board.  I was responsible for the hardware modifications and helped with the testing.

We learned in January 2007 that Gwen Reedy W1BEL became a silent key in late 2006.  He will truly be missed.

I have now retired and as of July 2007 will be in our new home in Port St Lucie, FL.   The tower is up and I am again enjoying contesting and DXing.

November 2008, accepted the job as ARES® Emergency Coordinator for St. Lucie County.
