[Simon & Ann only.FTW]He moved to Caroline County, VA from Richmond County and Essex County about 1722 and settled near Port Royal. The deed and will records of Caroline County were destroyed during the Civil War, but the order books and chancery records are preserved, showing Simon Miller to be a prominent figure in the early days of the County.
In 1753 his name appeared on the roll of officers in Essex County as Captain of Foot Infantry, Colonial Militia, order book and chancery records of Caroline County.
Between 1765 and 1770 he moved west to Bedford County, VA with his entire family and deposed of various personal effect:.
He was on the committee from Bedford in 1775.
Will book 1 page 490 Bedford County, VA., Russell Parish, mentions his wife Ann Miller and sons and daughters.

The DAR has already accepted this Simon Miller as an ancestor. His Brother Capt. William Miller was our ancestor. They have his age and marriage wrong, DAR lineage book Vol. 83 page 23 #82059; Vol. 199 page 114 # 99387 and many others.
